Creating our race sustainably and using our powerful platform to give a voice to the ocean, can only happen with the support and involvement from every person and organisation that the Race touches. Meet the essential team members who help make this happen.

As witnesses to the declining state of the seas, sailors are passionate ocean advocates that are committed to racing as sustainably as possible. Along with measuring and reducing their impact across their operations, many campaign on ocean health to raise awareness and drive action.

Our teams operate to sustainability requirements and guidelines set by The Ocean Race, IMOCA and World Sailing. Our Teams sign The Ocean Race Team Sustainability Charter, which was co-created with the teams to express a fleet-wide commitment to sustainable operations and supporting a healthy ocean. It includes themes of Science, Advocacy, Learning and Operations. Sailors also sign their 'personal promise' which is their own commitment to participating in the race in a sustainable way.

Race teams have their missions for the ocean which come together to support the race's overall ambition of recognising Ocean Rights. Climate change, ocean science, and circularity are popular themes that rise through our Race Teams. Meet our teams and visit their website to see the ocean programmes each has.

We work closely with our host cities to support them in making commitments and taking action to protect and restore the ocean.

Our stopover partners employ the highest standards of sustainable sports events excellence in co-producing each stopover with us. Stopovers have sustainability requirements included in agreements with them, and all have dedicated sustainability co-ordinators to work alongside our global sustainability team.
