Born in Rimini, Massimiliano 'Max' Sirena has participated in eight America's Cup campaigns. Of these, he has won the 33rd edition in 2010 with BMW Oracle Racing (as responsible for the wing mast) and the 35th with Emirates Team New Zealand in 2017. With Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli he took part in five Cup editions (2000, 2003, 2007, 2013, 2021), winning the Challenger Selection Series twice (the Louis Vuitton Cup in 2000 and the Prada Cup in 2021). Winner of the Extreme Sailing Series circuit in 2011 with Luna Rossa, Max became Skipper and Team Director of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli during the San Francisco event and has been leading the team since 2013. In his spare time he loves take on all water-related sports, but is also passionate about motorbikes, enduro racing and cycling. If he were not a professional sailor he would surely have held a sea-related job, but he has never really had a plan B. The 2024 edition in Barcelona will be his sixth America’s Cup with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.
